Academy Library

Maple Court Academy’s library is central to pupil´s learning and enriches their knowledge on a vast range of subjects, relating to both their curriculum, and their hobbies. Our ambition is that our pupil’s become independent library users and life-long learners.

The library provides materials that promote the love of reading and support the curriculum of the school. It provides printed, non-printed, and electronic resources for students and staff. Children utilise library resources to complete research projects and homework, explore ideas, as well as recreational reading on many topics. We have invested in many books catering for reluctant readers, gifted and able readers, as well as readers with specific educational needs. Children who speak English as an additional language are heavily supported by a wide range of books in various languages.

Children have a weekly timetabled library session. During their library session, they can each borrow a book, reserve books online, and listen to a range of stories which helps improve their engagement and listening skills.

The library is kept up-to-date with the latest fiction and non-fiction books in many different formats. We pride ourselves on providing innovative and engaging texts so that even the most reluctant reader can find pleasure in learning. We have comics, graphic novels, newspapers, magazines and even wordless books so everybody at Maple Court Academy can find a book suitable for them.

The library also offers other enriching activities, and promotes the love of reading through book fairs, World Book Day, and workshops including storytelling, book club, and after school reading clubs.
