All schools and academies must provide swimming instruction either in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2

In particular, pupils should be taught to:

At Maple Court Academy every pupil in KS2 has an opportunity to learn these skills in a course of swimming lessons at Fenton Manor swimming pool. Please see the timetable below for when your child will be going swimming. Please ensure they bring their swimming kit in on that day.

Meeting national curriculum requirements for swimming and water safety  
What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres? 42%
What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststoke]? 33%
What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations? 0%
Schools can choose to use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to provide additional provision for swimming but this must be for activity over and above the national curriculum requirements. Have you used it in this way? Yes/No
