Message from the Principal

1st September 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you have had a great summer and your child is looking forward to either joining us for the first time or returning to the Academy in September.

We are slowly moving back to some sense of normality but the risk of Covid 19 is still very real and I understand that the return to school for some is an anxious time.

Prior to the holiday we sent out a detailed guide of our reopening plans which are available on Class Dojo. We feel that our plans will ensure a safe environment for your child and our staff. In order to effectively manage the risks that remain, it will be a little different when your child returns to the Academy in September.

I think we all agree that a return to school and education is very important. Home learning was a positive experience for some children but for some it was not. To learn effectively the vast majority of young people need face to face contact with experts, general guidance and routines for learning to progress academically, develop their wellbeing, and social development.

It is important for your child to return. The Government have made it clear that attendance will be mandatory from the beginning of the new academic year, meaning that it is a parent’s legal duty to send your child to school. If your child is unable to attend due to individual health advice from a doctor or because they are self-isolating due to symptoms or a positive test result, please contact us so we are aware and can ensure support is in place.

I hope this information, together with the more detailed reopening plan, provides you with some sense of reassurance. Please do contact us if you have any concerns.

Louise Brammer

Last week the children participated in many activities linked to our English narrative, The Day the Crayons Quit. This included: costume designing and making, role play, and making cakes. On Friday 9th October, children were invited to a crayon party! As our book is linked to feelings and emotions and Friday was World Mental Health Day, we used it as an opportunity to talk about how we were feeling! We had lots of fun! ... See MoreSee Less
