Hello and welcome to our Year Three page. In Year 3 we have a new team this year. Our Year 3 teachers are Miss Screen and Miss Stevenson. Our support staff is Miss McCue, Miss Cooper and Mrs Reid. Both Year 3 classes are now based in the Magic Faraway Tree, formerly the Maple Tree. As a team, we have spent the summer revamping the inside of the building and on the outside of the mobile is a brand new mural depicting the magic faraway tree and a range of authors. It’s amazing! Our first topic is Tribal Tales. We will be learning about the prehistoric era including the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. For our launch afternoon, we created caveman hand printing, outside. We all enjoyed dabbing the paint around our partner’s hand to create an outline of a hand, as seen in caves from the prehistoric era.

In DT, we will create a stew that includes a protein and two vegetables. In Art, we will create a drawing of a stone statue using tone and texture. In Geography, we will explore the UK and it’s surrounding seas. In History, we will learn about the prehistoric era and the life of a child/woman in the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.

In RE, we will be learning about the daily life of a Christian and how Christians help in our local area. In French, we will learn a range of phrases and greetings. In PE, we will take part in Net/Wall games and learn how to adapt and change the rules of the game. Our PE day is a Thursday, as such, children should arrive on Thursday morning wearing their full PE kit.

We are looking forward to this term and cannot wait to teach you all!
