The Junior Leadership Team at Maple Court is an important link between staff and pupils.  Â
Supported by Mrs Ball, the members, elected by democratic vote from our Year 6 children, take on roles which reflect those of the Senior Leadership Team and provide an important link between the pupils and the staff. Â
The children work closely with their link staff member to monitor teaching and learning in their subject area, gather pupil feedback, help conduct learning walks, feedback to governors and visitors about the progress within their subject area.  Â
They also help to run assemblies, guide visitors around the academy and represent our academy at external events.  Â
The roles within the Junior Leadership Team are:Â
What is the School Council?
The school council works to make improvements to the school and the way we do things at Maple Court. We look around for things that could be better and discuss what to do. Everyone gets a chance to speak and when we’ve finished we vote on the best ideas and then start working on changing things. Sometimes we have to talk to teachers and sometimes we have to make phone calls to people outside of the school.
Who are the School Councillors?
We have 1 school councillor from each class from Year 1 to Year 6. Every year we hold a democratic vote for the new representative for each class. A good representative will speak at the council meetings about things that their class is interested in. They will also tell their class about what is going on in the council meetings and put the minutes up in the classroom.
We try to be very professional in the council so we use a lot of business words. Hopefully this will help.Â
Agenda - a list of things to talk aboutÂ
Councillor – someone who has been voted for to work for their class mates on the school councilÂ
Minutes – the notes taken during a meeting so people can see what goes onÂ
Motion - an idea for the council to discuss
At Maple Court, we create an environment based upon trust and respect that is a safe, secure and happy place for children to learn, grow and develop.
Maple Court Academy delivers a high-quality and rich educational experience for pupils from Nursery to Year 6.
