Welcome to 4S

Miss Silvester is proud to teach Year 4 along with Miss Parkes, Miss Rogers, Mrs Cadman and Miss Fenwick. 4S is a safe, happy space for children’s dreams to fly high and each individual child can flourish. In 4S we show our MAPLE Values to achieve the very best we can.

What we are learning:

Spring Term:

We will learn about a lot of different time periods, from the dinosaurs, to the Vikings, Romans, Kings and Queens of the past, both World Wars and more.
In English we will look at more in depth texts with more features and be able to recognise more skills that writers can use.
Maths will see us using greater numbers, learning new techniques and using more tools to assist our learning.

Routines and key information:

  • Children are expected to read at least four times a week and to achieve our reading wizard certificate they will need to read five times a week. The children can independently change their reading book once they had read the book at home and with a member of staff in school. The children are encouraged to choose a reading for pleasure book from our class library to take home and read in class.
  • Swimming is an exciting part of year 4, we will attend swimming on Tuesday up until the Summer term.
  • Toast can be purchased daily at breaktime.  The cost of this is 35p a day and the money needs to be put on the children’s parentmail account.

Communication:

  • Maple Court Academy uses Class Dojo as a way of communicating with parents.
  • For any help or assistance with using Dojo, please speak to a member of the Year 4 team who will be more than happy to help!
