Welcome to 4W Class
Welcome to 4W! We are a friendly, caring class where everyone is encouraged to work hard, be kind and enjoy learning together. We believe that every child has something special to bring to our classroom, and we are proud of the supportive community we create each day.
The class is taught by Mrs Wilson and Mrs Cadman. We are also fortunate to have Mrs Cowle and Mrs Peake supporting children in their learning throughout the week. In addition, Mr Smith joins us as he completes his SCITT teacher training programme. Together, we work as a team to help every child feel happy, confident and successful.

Important Information
- Uniform: Our school uniform consists of a yellow polo shirt, black trousers or skirt, and a Maple Court jumper or cardigan.
- PE Kit: Children should wear a red top, black bottoms, trainers and a school jumper or cardigan.
- PE Days: Please check Arbor or class communications for our current PE days. Children may come to school wearing their PE kit on these days.
- Jewellery: For safety reasons, all jewellery must be removed before PE lessons.
- Snack & Drink: Children should bring a named water bottle to school every day. They may also bring a healthy snack or order toast through the Arbor app.
- Reading: Reading books and reading diaries should be brought to school every day. We encourage children to read at least five times each week and ask that an adult signs their diary. Reading books and diaries are checked and changed on Fridays.
Ways to Help at Home
Read Daily
Listening to your child read regularly is one of the best ways to support their learning. Talking about the story, characters and new vocabulary helps develop both comprehension and confidence.
Maths Skills
You can help your child by practising:
- Times tables regularly.
- Adding and subtracting 4-digit numbers.
- Using money in real-life situations, such as finding different combinations of coins to make a total amount.
Digital Learning
We encourage children to use Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) regularly. This fun online platform helps children develop speed and accuracy with their times tables and prepares them for the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check
The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC)
The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a national assessment that all Year 4 pupils complete in the summer term. The check is completed online and measures how quickly and accurately children can recall their multiplication facts up to 12 × 12.
Children answer 25 multiplication questions, with a limited amount of time for each question. Regular practice helps build confidence and fluency, so a few minutes of times tables practice each day can make a big difference. We use TTRS and daily classroom activities to help children feel well prepared and confident when completing the check.
