Welcome to 4S

Miss Silvester is proud to teach Year 4 along with Miss Parkes, Miss Wilson and Mrs Barker is a safe, happy space for children’s dreams to fly high and each individual child can flourish. In 4S we show our MAPLE Values to achieve the very best we can.

What we are learning:

Summer Term:

In the summer term we will be reading the story of how to train your dragon in our English lesson where we will complete a diary entry, instructions and a description. In maths we are looking at developing a new skill of decimals and building our current knowledge of money, time and position and direction. In PSHE our topic is about relationships. In R.E we are learning about Pentecost. In History we are linking our learning to our English and learning all about the Vikings. In Science we are learning about Electricity and linking our D&T by creating a nightlight to bring home..

Routines and key information:

  • Children are expected to read at least four times a week and to achieve our reading wizard certificate they will need to read five times a week. The children can independently change their reading book once they had read the book at home and with a member of staff in school. The children are encouraged to choose a reading for pleasure book from our class library to take home and read in class.
  • Swimming is coming to a close, so we will have PE every Monday and Tuesday. It is very important that EVERY child has a PE kit in school ready to take part in PE.
  • Toast can be purchased daily at breaktime.  The cost of this is 35p a day and the money needs to be put on the children’s parentmail account.

Communication:

  • Maple Court Academy uses Class Dojo as a way of communicating with parents.
  • For any help or assistance with using Dojo, please speak to a member of the Year 4 team who will be more than happy to help!
