Children across the school are assessed regularly in school against the Early Years Foundation Stage milestones (Nursery and Reception) and against the National Curriculum expectations (Year 1 to Year 6).
FS1 (Nursery) and FS2 (Reception)
In the early years our Reception children complete a statutory assessment (Reception baseline assessment), they are then assessed at the end of the early years framework, this will tell us if they are working on track or towards.
Throughout Nursery and Reception we carry out informal check points, to ensure we know the children next steps, so then we can cater for these.
KS1 (Y1 and Y2) and KS2 (Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6)
Children move onto the national curriculum expectations from Year 1 onwards. Children are taught the curriculum for their particular year group and once they have understood the curriculum content and display the required skills expected, they move onto a mastery curriculum until the end of the year. The school uses a combination of standardised tests, school based tests and feedback from daily marking to assess attainment and progress.
Assessments in reading, writing and mathematics are reported to parents at the end of each term.
